But what Jack Wolfskin do with this system is far superior to your average brand. They want their jackets to be able to be extremely durable to withstand german climates, so they re-enforce it with taffeta. This makes the jacket withstand rain pressure to around the 10,000 hiydro-static head mark.. This level of waterproofing contends with a lot of full waterproof jackets. The only reason they cannot call this waterproof is because of the seams between the baffles. If you were in a big down pour for a long period of time this is the weak point that if the jacket was so wet it started settling into these seams, then that is the only point where water could seap through but in general a walk on the school run or across the beach in the rain isn't going to get through the material itself from rainfall and is actually more likely to run off instead.
